Biography
Based in Marseille and working primarily in the South of France Jan Jäckle is an award winning Director, Director of Photography and Editor working across commercials, documentaries and narrative films. Jan has worked on projects in Tanzania, Senegal, Japan, France, Germany and Austria. After earning Bachelor’s degrees in Philosophy and Media & Communication from the University of Passau in 2021 and 2022, he began developing a body of work shaped by a strong cinematic sensibility and a deep interest in visual storytelling. Studying at the University of Musashi and the University of Perugia in 2019 and 2020 he also developed a strong passion for cultures, religions and art history.
Since then, he has collaborated with clients and platforms such as France Télévisions, Nowness, RTL Luxembourg, ORF 2, Bioderma, AXA and Allianz amongst others. He also works alongside various production companies as a Director, Director of Photography and Camera Operator.
Primarily shooting on Sony cinema cameras, Jan moves fluidly between independent filmmaking and larger collaborative productions. His work is driven by atmosphere, human presence and emotional authenticity, with a particular focus on the relationship between image, movement and narrative. Whether working on documentaries, branded films or short fiction, he approaches each project with the same intention: creating visually immersive stories that resonate beyond the screen.
Fluent in German, French, English and Spanish, with a strong command of Italian, he works internationally and adapts easily to diverse cultural and creative environments. His background allows him to connect quickly with both clients and subjects, combining technical precision with an intuitive and human approach to filmmaking.
Deeply attached to cinema as a collaborative art form, Jan considers communication and trust to be essential parts of the creative process. From writing and pre-production to cinematography and editing, he remains committed to shaping films that carry both aesthetic coherence and emotional impact.

Basé à Marseille et travaillant principalement dans le sud de la France, Jan Jäckle est un réalisateur, directeur de la photographie et monteur primé, évoluant entre publicité, documentaire et fiction. Jan a travaillé sur des projets en Tanzanie, Sénégal, Japon, France, Autriche et Espagne entre autres. Son travail est guidé par l’atmosphère, la présence humaine et l’authenticité émotionnelle, avec une attention particulière portée à la relation entre image, mouvement et narration. Qu’il s’agisse de documentaires, de films de marque ou de courts-métrages de fiction, il aborde chaque projet avec la même intention : créer des récits visuellement immersifs qui résonnent au-delà de l’écran.
Parlant couramment allemand, français, anglais et espagnol, avec une très bonne maîtrise de l’italien, il travaille à l’international et s’adapte facilement à des environnements culturels et créatifs variés. Son parcours lui permet de créer rapidement un lien aussi bien avec les clients qu’avec les personnes filmées, en combinant précision technique et approche intuitive et humaine du cinéma.
